Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Lost Pet World uses, why we use it, and the choices and rights available to you.

Pilot-service notice. Lost Pet World offers pilot services in Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova. Public pages and listings may be indexed by search engines. Contact details, exact locations and private pages are not indexed.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Lost Pet World is operated by Andrei Veverita, Republic of Moldova, as the data controller. Privacy contact: privacy@lostpetworld.com.

2. EU representative

Because Lost Pet World is operated outside the European Union and is offered to people in Bulgaria and Romania, the controller has appointed Cornel Popa, established in Bucharest, Romania, as its representative in the European Union under Article 27 GDPR. Contact: eu-representative@lostpetworld.com. The representative is a contact point for data subjects and supervisory authorities; the controller remains responsible for the processing.

3. Personal data we process

  • Account data: email address, authentication identifiers and basic account records.
  • Listing data: city, approximate area, date, pet description, photos and status.
  • Private contact data: notification email and optional telephone number supplied with a listing. These are not public by default.
  • Private sighting data: reporter account, location information, notes, optional contact details and optional photo.
  • Moderation and support data: review actions, reports, support messages and records needed to operate the service.
  • Technical data: security, access and delivery logs generated by our hosting, authentication and email providers.

4. Why we use personal data

  • to create and authenticate accounts;
  • to receive, review, publish and manage lost/found pet listings;
  • to deliver private sighting leads and transactional notifications;
  • to prevent abuse, spam, fraud and security incidents;
  • to respond to privacy, moderation and support requests;
  • to comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights.

5. Legal bases

Depending on the activity, processing is based on steps necessary to provide the service you request and perform our user relationship, our legitimate interests in operating a safe and useful recovery platform, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where a future optional feature specifically relies on consent.

6. What is public and what stays private

Pet descriptions, approved photos, city/approximate area, relevant dates and listing status can be public. Notification email, optional telephone number, exact/private sighting details and reporter contact details are kept private by default and are only used within the recovery workflow or for service administration.

7. Service providers

We currently use Supabase for database, authentication, storage and backend functions; Vercel for website hosting and delivery; and Resend for transactional email. These providers process data on our behalf under their service terms and data-protection arrangements.

8. International data transfers

Our providers may process data in countries outside Moldova or the European Economic Area. Where data-protection law requires transfer safeguards, we rely on the safeguards and contractual mechanisms made available by the relevant provider and review those arrangements as the service develops.

9. Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including providing active recovery features, preserving a limited resolved-listing history, handling disputes, protecting security and meeting legal requirements. Private contact and sighting information is not intended to become permanent public content. Verified deletion or restriction requests are assessed against these purposes and any applicable legal obligations.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection to processing, and you may withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. GDPR requests should normally be answered without undue delay and within one month.

11. Complaints

People in Bulgaria may lodge a complaint with the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP / КЗЛД). People in Romania may contact the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP). People in Moldova may contact the National Centre for Personal Data Protection (CNPDCP). You may also contact another competent supervisory authority available to you under applicable data-protection law.

12. Cookies and local storage

Lost Pet World currently uses only technical storage needed for authentication and core functionality. We do not currently run advertising or non-essential analytics cookies. If we add non-essential analytics, advertising or similar tracking later, this policy and the consent mechanism will be updated before those tools are enabled.

13. Children and third-party information

The service is not designed to collect sensitive information about children. Do not include unnecessary personal information about other people in listing descriptions, photos or sightings. If you provide another person’s contact information, you must have a lawful reason and appropriate permission to do so.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Lost Pet World expands to new countries, introduces new features or changes service providers. Material changes will be reflected on this page before they take effect where required.
